The 20th International Conference on Bear Research and Management organized by the International Bear Association (IBA) took place on 17-23 July 2011 in Ottawa, Canada. The conference covered seven bear species and hosted representation of over 200 bear biologists from more than 25 countries. The program contained over 70 oral presentations and a poster session. Some of the main presented themes and discussed topics were: bears and climate change, bear behaviour, bear physiology, population estimation, bear feeding (including supplementary feeding as one of the hottest topics) and human-bear conflicts. Several workshops were held on issues such as the impact of climate change on bears and the large enclosures for captive bears. The field trips gave attendees an opportunity to admire Canada’s beautiful landscapes. To go the conference website, click HERE.
